City Guide: Brussels

Our trip to Brussels, Belgium was short and sweet. After taking an overnight megabus, we arrived at 4 am. After walking around in the freezing cold, the rest of the tourists finally came out, street vendors opened for business, and we got to work sightseeing.

What to see/do:

Grand Place: this city centre is one of the coolest in Europe. Go during the summer to see the ground of the square covered in multicoloured flowers.

What to eat:

While we didn’t see many sights in Brussels, what we did do is EAT! The city square is overflowing with waffles, fries, and chocolate stores. I ate a waffle for breakfast, fries for lunch, chocolate for snack, and waffle again for dinner. The day ended in one of the many bars in town, sampling the famous Belgian beer.

The point is, if you’re looking for a getaway full of monuments and museums, don’t come to Brussels. If you’re looking for some of the best unhealthy food and beer in Europe, Brussels should be on your to-go list.
